Multimedia Access Theater (MAT) Philips Consumer Electronics

A proof of concept project for a integrated PC and home theater systems controller, with infrared keyboard and handheld remote control of stereo, television, VCR, DVD, and satellite. E-mail, web browsing, contact management, speakerphone and videophone functions combine old and new forms of entertainment and productivity in the living room. This project created the prototype for the Philips DVX8000 Multimedia Home Theater System.

• Assisted design of user interface, jack panels, and remote control as a member of the UI design team.
• Co-wrote Functional Requirement Specification (FRS), User Interface Specification (UIS), and other product development documentation.
• Wrote the Media Requirements Specification (MRS) communicating interface design to software developers.
• Developed interactive prototypes and simulations for proof-of-concept, internal review, and promotional video.
• Directed art creation by third-party design firms.
• Defined and created final media assets.
• Worked with engineers to create working prototypes using custom software and hardware.
